SAIPA Accountant

Overall responsibilities

The position requires the candidate to carry out all the duties and responsibilities as an accountant for the Employer and to enable the Employer to render bookkeeping and accounting services to its clients.

The candidate will be responsible to launch the specialist QuickBooks online division and therefore must have extensive QuickBooks experience. This task will primarily include the implementation of In The Cloud technologies, automating and developing accounting and administrative processes and procedures for an In The Cloud client accounting service in real-time, new client take on and training, whilst at the same time ensuring that the foundation of accurate and reliable accounting processes are adhered to.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Training completed at an accounting practice
  • B Com or similar
  • Must be able to work independently and demonstrate relevant experience

Key tasks involved

This will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Writing up and processing bookkeeping entries to trial balance and closing accounting entries using mainly Pastel, QuickBooks, Sage 1, Xero and other accounting software
  • Debtors, creditors and bank reconciliation's
  • Preparation of management accounts, cash flows, budgets
  • Account reconciliation's and clearing accounts
  • Payroll: Salaries, wages & related processing using VIP payroll software
  • Completion and lodgement of all statutory returns including:
    • Vat
    • Paye
    • UIF, SDL, Workman’s compensation
    • EMP 501, tax certificates and reconciliation
  • Dealing with SARS, handling all queries and audits, Department of Labour and other government departments
  • Use of various manual & computerised systems, MS Office Systems and processes
  • IT12 and IT14 tax returns for corporate, trusts & individuals
  • SARS audits, reviews and correspondence
  • Preparation of year-end audit/bookkeeping file
  • Preparation of annual financial statements using Caseware
  • Teambuilding
  • Such other tasks necessary for the conduct of the employer’s business, as the employer may from time to time direct
