GAAP IT Specialist

Responsibilities

 

  • Determines strategic goals of the IT department in order to support the operational strategy of the company by conducting needs assessments, performance reviews and cost/benefit analysis
  • Maintains and improves IT Department by monitoring staff performance, identifying and resolving problems and preparing and completing actions plan and managing how the department can be improved
  • Accomplishing IT Department objectives through recruiting, selecting , orientating , training, coaching and counseling employees effectively
  • Preparation of IT Department reports for Operations by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data and trends
  • Accomplishing IT goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different tasks and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
  • Builds long-term, strategic and sustainable relationships with all stake holders in the business, including but not limited to all Restaurants and Departments
  • Responsible for ensuring that IT technicians are effectively supporting Operations through regular meetings with Department Managers as well as conducting restaraurant visits
  • Ensuring that all plans for new restaurant openings are communicated to IT Support staff and that communication is effective with Operations teams and restaurants
  • Ensuring, that the IT Department has assisted all restaurants with required IT hardware and IT software in order to function optimally
  • Responsible for ensuring that all IT Assets/ Stock are managed through an IT stock management system and that there is adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Provide appropriate information and support in connection with IT issues, such as equipment failure or breakdowns to Regional Managers
  • Participate in managing, testing , documentation and implementation of new projects when necessary
  • Available for IT standby ( during weekends and public holidays)
  • Overall management of any database changes in accordance with Service Level Agreements
  • Assists with new enterprise database creation and deployment ( menu items, Inventor items,recipes and reporting)
  • Providing telephonic, remote and onsite support for all RES products ( e.g. ABSA)
  • Research and test problems to confirm, isolate and identify what caused problems and create solutions
  • Escalating any unresolved problems to relevant IT support systems
  • Responsible for writing, testing and implementation of any EM related documentation that might be required
  • Training of Restaurant staff and ASL staff on database ( GAAP) as and when needed
  • Testing new database versions prior to release and implementation
  • Testing new releases of GAAP products
  • Creating new menu items, Inventory items and recipes as and when needed
  • Testing and deployment of newly created items to restaurants timeously
  • Creating and maintaining any reporting interfaces and menus
  • Ensuring that there is effective communication between IT and Operations when challenges are experienced with GAAP/ Database
  • Strategically work with operations in solutions on IT systems at store level – this includes meetings with service providers, and reviewing SLA agreements.
  • Liaising with Human Resources Manager and Training manager as well as Regional Managers in order to effectively support IT department

 

Requirements

 

  • Knowledge of IP Networking and Protocols e.g. HTTP, FTP, DNS, WINS
  • Understanding of network services e.g. email , internet, firewall , proxy
  • Above average knowledge of applications ( Office 2010/2013, Internet Explores)
  • Detailed knowledge of computer hardware ( Desktops, laptops and components)
  • Previous experience in GAAP essential
  • Knowledge of Windows server 2003/2008
  • Knowledge of Windows
  • Restaurant experience will be an advantage
  • Solid understanding of organizational business plans and processes, policies and procedures
  • Solid knowledge of general administrative processes
  • Previous managerial experience - team at least >5
  • Own car – travel often
  • Only SA Citizens will be considered
