DISPATCH MANAGER - PERISHABLE MEAT INDUSTRY

We are in search of a skilled Dispatch Manager looking to work him or herself up to becoming part of our permanent staff. At this moment this position is on a contract basis, as you will be standing in for the current dispatch manager on extended sick leave. You must have the ability to function well as part of a team and have effective organizational and communication skills to manage personnel in your division and to service our clientele efficiently. We are in the process of expanding our business, and should you prove yourself in the contract period, there will be a possibility for a permanent position in our company. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 5 YEARS ACTIVE EXPERIENCE IN THE LOGISTICS OF THE PERISHABLE FOOD INDUSTRY SENIOR CERTIFICATE. TERTIARY QUALIFICATION IN AN APPLICABLE STUDY FIELD. You must be fluent in Afrikaans, read, write and speak. NON-SMOKERS NOT NEGOTIABLE. The Dispatch Supervisor is distinguished in the supervisory work performed. THE DISPATCH MANAGER MUST BE APT AND EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE ON FOOD SAFETY AND HYGIENE PRINCIPLES AS IN HCCP-STANDARDS Supervisory responsibilities include not only general supervision of specific assigned employees, but also daily oversight of any dispatch worker`s performance while on the Supervisor’s shift. The Supervisor provide technical assistance to staff, resolve minor work or personnel problems, and give input regarding discipline, training, and major job reassignments to the Operations Manager. Supervisors plan and carry out the work independently and are expected to resolve problems in accordance with instructions, policies, procedures and applicable laws and regulations. This position serves as a working supervisor and the position requires performing the full range of dispatching functions including: UPKEEP OF FOOD SAFETY AND HYGIENE REGULATIONS THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE PACKING AND DISTRIBUTING PROCESS FLOW OF YOUR DIVISION Assign and delegate work projects; Handle the work schedules of employees in his division; Ensure proper staffing levels are maintained; Manage employee performance; Evaluate employee work performance; Coach and mentor employee and implement corrective action for performance and conduct issues. Key Tasks and Duties: Managing personnel in the dispatch division. Managing clocking of personnel and ensuring personnel`s productivity. Responsible for scheduling drivers and organizing the daily dispatch of products to clients from the dispatch fridge. Manage and perform record keeping of all products to determine stock needed to ensure 100% order fill for each order placed and dispatched. Organizing the packaging of products received from production. Ensuring accuracy of stock take and accuracy of dispatching products for delivery. Ensure that all stock received are captured and safeguarding stock to prevent stock losses. Completes a variety of reports and correspondence relating to dispatch activities in a timely manner. Performs inventory control processes. Overseeing daily rotation of stock in the dispatch fridge. Manages that stock will be checked for damages and ensure quality control. Managing orders and stock sent out to the factory shop. Managing that date stamps are put on each product. Managing the correct labels on each product. Managing stock levels of products and labeling. Professional appearance: Demonstrate the ability to follow operational procedures Strong customer service orientation Effective organizational and communication skills An ability to function well as part of a team Diligent attention to safety Candidates applying for this position through an internal recruitment process must successfully pass all components of the recruitment and selection process, which includes but is not limited to: • Application screening • Practical exam • Oral interviews • Valid driver's license • Clean bad debt record • Clean criminal record • Clean DMV & drug screen required. • Clean polygraph test The cost of recruitment screening tests will be R 995.00 and for the account of the applicant (Payable 24 hours BEFORE onset of the tests which will be after the second interview and which will only be done if you are deemed a successful candidate for appointment) The applicant will agree to a 1 month probation period and the position is on a contract basis there-after. The first month period will be in the position of Trainee Dispatch Manager in order to grade your skill level and test your compatibility to the Company. If the Company deem you to be a compatible candidate after the first month trainee probation period, you will advance to a three month contract period as acting Dispatch Manager. At this moment the position is on contract with the possibility of becoming a permanent position should the Company have the position available after the initial 4 month period. Physical Demands and Work Environment: Work is performed in an indoor, closed- space environment with temperatures ranging between 2 and 10 degrees Celsius The majority time of the day is spent in a standing position and protective clothing are worn at all times Frequent lifting up to 10 kg`s occasional lifting up to 20 kg`s Ability to walk and stand for at least 6 hours per day Exposure to bright lights, and extreme temperatures. Salary R 16 900 – 00 to R 19 500 – 00 per month Cost to Company depending on skills and qualifications.
