Melting Superintendent


Our client manufactures iron components is looking to employ a Melting Superintendent in their Melting Department.

Education and training requirements:

  • Minimum of Matric / Grade 12
  • Must have a qualification in Electrical Engineering or be a trade tested Electrician
  • A management diploma would be advantageous

Experience Required:

  • 5 years minimum working experience in a Melt Shop
  • Exposure to PLC's, Siemens and Allan Bradley
  • Must be computer literate, e-mail and Microsoft Office
  • Extensive knowledge of Furnace Technology and Refractories
  • A detailed understanding of metal melting, alloying and the metallurgy which is applicable
  • Awareness of working with equipment at power usage of up to 12MVA
  • A proven track record managing people

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure upkeep of 10 ton furnaces and all Melting equipment
  • Maintain all installation standards
  • Improvements to achieve maximum efficiency from furnaces
  • Stand in for manager from time to time
  • Overtime will be required from time to time
  • Well be required for callouts
