Food Factory Manager, rbg

An established group is looking for a suitably experienced Food Factory Manager for their Food Manufacturing facility in the Randburg area

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Plan, organize, direct and run the day to day Factory operations
  • Maintain acceptable production standards, while minimizing unnecessary costs
  • Assess capacity and flexibility of factory
  • Responsible for production output, product quality and timeous dispatch of output
  • Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results
  • Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives
  • Provide a clear sense of direction and leadership
  • Monitor operations and institute corrective actions as may be required
  • Manage, recruit and develop factory staff
  • Collect and analyse data to highlight areas of unnecessary waste
  • Maintain all factory safety procedures
  • Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets
  • Address employee grievances and administer collective bargaining agreements
  • Stay up to date with latest production management, best practices and concepts
  • Ensure correct handling of all baked goods, preparation, presentation and packaging
  • Stay abreast of local and international pastry and bread trends
  • Consistently test new recipes and methods with the aim of evolving the production
  • Work together with the General Manager to improve margins by investigating and reporting on all variances
  • Control labour and operating expenses through effective scheduling, budgeting, purchasing decisions and inventory control
  • Maintain control systems which will assure quality consistency
  • Monitor product deliveries to ensure they meet established purchasing specifications
  • Foster an awareness of the importance of product quality
  • Seek practical cost efficiencies within the production line
  • Actively train and develop staff members within the team to ensure improved production and staff development.
  • Develop and implement training schedules for new employees, as well as follow up on fulfilment of training requirements.

 

Requirements

 

  • Grade 12
  • Relevant Production/Food related qualification would be advantageous
  • MUST have own reliable transport – non negotiable
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years Factory Management experience in a FOOD factory Production Environment
  • Previous Bakery/Pastry Production experience is preferred
  • MS Office experience
  • Able to work overtime, long hours and on weekends as may be required by the production environment
  • Strong Management and Leadership skills
  • Relevant knowledge of both Business and Management principles
  • Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise
  • Relevant Knowledge of Occupational safety, quality, Food safety and applicable processes/procedures – example ISO 22000 , HACCP, GMP
  • Able to work with people at all levels and handle conflict appropriately
  • Salary is dependent on skill set and operational experience
