A Chief Operations Officer is required for a international commercial property group. Position based in Northern Suburb. Rneg

  • Preferably a MBA / Masters in Engineering
  • Minimum 7 to 10 years’ experience in a senior management /executive role
  • Extensive senior management exposure in the construction or facilities management industry
  • Worked in a people orientated business, preferably with a large head count in excess of 1 000 people.
  • Has a track record (at least one environment) of a major successful organisational and process overhaul of a company’s existing operational structure. (Reference would be required). This would include the introduction of IT to streamline and improve process and reporting both internally and externally to clients.
  • Has a track record of developing and implementing clear efficiency measures (KPI’s/Benchmarks etc.) and then driving these measurables within an organisation.
  • Is capable of working and leading teams with a large degree of discipline whilst simultaneously capable of creating a winning team culture.
  • Experience as a Board/Exco member in an organisation will be an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of IT accounting software. (SAP and SAP BI preferable).
  • Have a proven track record of success facilitating progressive organizational change and development within a growing organization.
  • Have a proven track record of driving a company’s cash flow and debt collection.
  • Have a proven track record of optimising costs responsibly, within a company.
  • Property industry knowledge/experience not required.  Service industry experience would be preferable.

  1. 2. Strategy, Vision & Leadership
  • Integral member of Exco – responsible for providing both empirical reports and supporting explanations and interpretation for Exco and the Board on the company and business unit performance.
  • Contribute to the development of strategic goals, objectives and overall management of the organisation.
  1. 3.Financial Performance Monitoring
  • Oversee both the finance function of the management company and the client facing operational finance teams (“finance teams”).
  • Prepare appropriate KPI’s for finance teams and convert this into meaningful reports for the MD, finance teams, Board, Exco and Shareholders. (Not necessarily the same).
  • Perform other financial analysis and once off reporting as requested.
  • Have the ability to perform detailed budgeting and forecasting (Bottom up approach) and to dynamically change and communicate the changes to the forecasts.
  • Implement key measurement tools and interventions to optimise the working capital cycle and general cash flow.
  1. 4. Operations
  • Assess the current organisational and operational service delivery structure.  Document and then optimise both structurally and through the introduction of IT.
  • Upgrade and implement an appropriate system of policies, procedures, internal controls within the business (that allows quick decision making/high levels of governance/high performance culture).
  • Oversee performance of both internal and group provided support services. Including optimising the cost and the performance of:
    • Accounts Payable
    • Banking Department
    • HR
    • IT
    • Internal audit
    • Marketing
    • Office Services
    • Procurement
    • Legal coordination and collections.
  1. 5.Business Operating Systems
  • Drive implementation and optimization of SAP & B1 Tool (strong Group IT support provided).
  • Drive the implementation and optimization of the Group work scheduling tool – MyMCS (strong Group IT support provided).
  • Drive implementation and optimization of SAP & B1 Tool (strong Group IT support provided).
