SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  •      Business/Finance related Degree (essential)

  •     7 yrs Snr Management/GM experience
  •     5 yrs Financial Management experience essential
  •     3-5 yrs experience doing business in Africa (including feasibility studies in new territories)

  •     At least 3 years treasury experience

 Key Accountabilities:

Strategic/Financial

  • Guide the setting of each African Country’s business strategy, ensuring operational, tactical, financial targets and plans are in line with the broader group’s strategies
  • Provide direction to the Africa team on the structuring and formulation of responses for strategic business opportunities (such as large tenders, local clients with African footprint, etc.)
  • Manage relationships and expectations with external stakeholders, in line with the shareholder agreements, business plans and performance
  • Grow and manage relationships with the Group companies present in the respective African Countries in order to maximise synergies and the possible yield thereof
  • Identify and pro-actively manage potential foreign currency exposure, taking specific decisions to mitigate any related risks as well as maximise potential returns on opportunities presented by it
  • Guide the GM, Africa incumbents in conducting feasibility studies for any identified new countries and motivate the final business proposition

Operational

  • Review on a monthly basis the ongoing performance of the African countries, guide the General Managers on managing the financial performance of the business, in order to ensure the set profitability and cash-flow targets are met
  • Identify and maximise the opportunities available as a result of synergising any current strategic customer and/or suppliers across Africa (e.g. SA OEM exports), taking into consideration of factors such as economies of scale, global SLA’s or supplier agreements, etc.

Stakeholders (internal and external customers, suppliers, shareholders, communities)

  • Manage and grow relationships with specific strategic customers and suppliers present across African countries, who have significant impact on the company

Employees

  • Provide clear direction and decisive leadership to direct reports, ensuring all are aligned to the goals and have a clear purpose
  • Set clearly defined performance standards / targets for direct reports, holding them accountable to achieve these and providing support and guidance where needed
  • Create and maintain a constructive within the team, engaging and motivating direct reports to always give their best, while respecting any areas of diversity (whether areas of expertise, cultural, gender, age, background, etc.)
  • Ensure direct reports adhere to set up business policies and procedures, emphasizing the importance of general discipline at work and objectively correcting and handling any deviations as they arise.
  • Resource and staff the team appropriately, considering the relevance of current and new jobs as well as the most suitable ways in which to place or replace any vacancies
  • Set the example to the team and deliver on the employee value proposition by leading the team and the business in line with the company’s leadership behaviours
  • Support and encourage direct reports to drive their own individual development plans in order to further grow as professionals in their jobs
