Executive Housekeeper

The Executive housekeeper is in charge of overseeing the cleaning activities of the resort. Reporting to the General Manager

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Grade 12
  • Related Hospitality Diploma or Certificate
  • Preferably 2+ years’ supervisory or management experience
  • At least 4-7 years’ experience in hospitality, preferably housekeeping

The Executive housekeeper is in charge of overseeing the cleaning activities of the resort.

Duties

Operational

  • Oversee the day-to-day cleaning responsibilities of the housekeeping team
  • Ensure that housekeeping staff are always correctly and smartly dressed, that they offer professional and courteous service to their customers.
  • Plan, check and maintain duty rosters in allocated housekeeping areas, ensure coverage and monitor timekeeping and absenteeism
  • To ensure that all rooms and public areas are serviced and cleaned daily
  • Ensuring that housekeeping staff adhere to the cleaning time allocated
  • To ensure that all rooms are checked regularly for any possible repairs and refurbishing
  • Effectively participate in face to face meetings with all housekeeping staff
  • To liaise and notify the General Manager of any areas that require décor
  • Ensure that company and statutory hygiene standards are maintained in all areas.
  • To ensure that regular fire and evacuation drills are held.
  • To be familiar with all Health and Safety measures.

Stock Control

  • Ensue that housekeeping supplies and equipment are ordered, correctly stored and issued to the various areas within the department
  • Ensure that weekly and monthly stock takes are conducted
  • Ensure tightest control over housekeeping supplies
  • To prepare and submit all required information requested for budgetary purposes, timeously and accurately
  •  

Management

  • Participate in the daily preparation of housekeeping times scheduled of all areas
  • Check duty rosters in allocated areas, ensure coverage and monitor timekeeping and absenteeism
  • Effectively participate in face to face meetings with all housekeeping staff
  • Actively take full responsibility in the absence of the Housekeeping Manager
  • Assisting with completing housekeeping requisitions so as to ensure that they are prepared properly and placed in a proper and timely manner in compliance with company´s instructions.
  • Responsible for the overall implements, consumptions of all housekeeping polices and procedures pertaining to employees, work manuals, sanitation requirements, consumptions, costs and quality in assistance with the Housekeeping Manager
  • Deal with complaint escalated promptly and calm down irate customers where required
  •  

Learning and Development

  • To assist the Housekeeping Manager in identifying areas of development and training as well as recruitment needs
  • To carry out and ensure that housekeeping staff receive regular On-the-Job training and guidance is taking place to agreed standards.
  • To ensure that staff under your control are trained in all Health and Safety measures.
  •  

Customer Service

  • Ensure the quality of services in accordance with the company standard.
  • Investigate all complaints about housekeeping service and promptly take corrective action
  • Actively listen and resolve guests’ complaints

Perhaps accommodation might not provided on the premises; ideally the successful candidate would be prepared to live in the local town
