This well known hotel in Cape Town is looking for a Cashier to join their team.

If you have a banking background this will be highly beneficial with experience in Forex

 

Purpose of the job

  • · To prepare guest checkout and do the actual guest checkout as well as fulfill any guest requests which pertain to money
  • · Assist with couriering items as and when required
  • · Being an efficient link between the guests and other departments of the hotel

 

 

Skills, education and qualification requirements

  • · Proven abilities in:

o Excellent written and verbal communication with people on all levels

o Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills

o Experienced in Property Management Systems, i.e. Fidelio Opera, MS word, Excel advantageous.

o Developing and nurturing interpersonal relationships (with guests, suppliers and colleagues alike)

o Willingness to serve

o Cashiering and managing a float

  • · A Hospitality Management diploma/degree will be advantageous
  • · Experience in the hospitality and tourism industry preferable
  • · Proficiency in the English command
  • · Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • · Strong administration skills
  • · Self starter
  • · Have the ability to work under pressure
  • · Enjoy anticipating and exceeding guest expectations

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITES

Financial: Satisfied Shareholders

  • · Checking the billing instructions on all departures against written

 

correspondence or vouchers and assuring complete accuracy on guest bill

  • · Charging of sundry expenses such as Robben Island Tickets, Postcards, ATF, Photocopies, Phone calls, Faxes, Internet etc, etc.
  • · checking the room charge reconciliation sheet and adjusting charges
  • · Prepare House Accounts for HODs
  • · Charging of courier services to guest credit cards

 

Customer Service: Delighted Customers

  • · Foreign exchange transactions, exchanging foreign currency into South African Rand for guests
  • · Selling hotel merchandise to guests
  • · Providing guests with a range of emergency guest supplies
  • · Supply guests with information about the hotel, Cape Town and surrounds and any other general questions they might have
  • · Promoting all revenue outlets of the hotel
  • · Assist guests in arranging transfers to restaurants, museums, galleries, to the airport, from the airport
  • · Coordinating of all guest parcels to be sent away – liaising with the courier companies until the parcels are collected from the hotel

 

Processes: Effective Processes

  • · Co-ordinate luggage collection from rooms while guests check out
  • · Obtaining authorization on credit cards of guests who have checked in
  • · Adjusting entries guests may query after consultation with the manager on duty

  • · Attend Front Office meetings and Cashier Meetings to have a working knowledge of the FO/Cashier department and be proficient in all tasks calls.

• Has a thorough knowledge of the hotel and all services provided to the guest

• Attends all training workshops as and when required

• Is familiar with all policies and procedures, house rules, fire, security and emergency procedures as well as all checklists pertaining to the position

• Performs any reasonable duty as instructed by Front Office Department
